Confidentiality

Employee privacy is protected by strict confidentiality laws and regulations and by professional ethical standards for EAP counselors. EAP Counselors may be contacted in person, by telephone, or e-mail.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: E-mail contacts with an EAP Counselor are NOT confidential. Because NASA e-mail is not inherently confidential, it is recommended that no personal information be transmitted electronically to an EAP counselor. An e-mail contact with an EAP counselor should be limited to requesting an appointment or discussing other non-confidential information and questions.

After-Hours EAP Services

If you or a family member need assistance after-hours (evenings, holidays, weekends and during busisness travel in different time zones), NASA has contracted with an EAP provider (ProtoCall), which is staffed with professional EAP counselors. A toll-free phone number is available to contact ProtoCall. At some NASA Centers (ARC, GRC, GSFC, HQ, LRC), their EAP vendors also provide after hours toll-free numbers. Employees are encouraged to use these vendor after-hours first before contacting ProtoCall; however, ProtoCall can always be used by all eligible employees. It is also recommended that supervisors and managers contact their Center/Facility EAP office to discuss any employee EAP-related issues, as NASA EAP counselors are the best onsite resources for guidance and advice in these matters.
